Arabian horse breeder Shareen Van Khoten is missing! Ex-cop Kim Kovak fears it may have something to do with her friend’s obsessive hunt for her beloved stolen mares.

Kim’s partner, fraud investigator Garrett Quaid, has a different fear. If Shareen’s disappearance is related to the lost horses, it’s possible that Charles Léon, head of an international horse theft ring, is involved. Worse, if Kim tries to rescue her friend, she could end up back in Léon’s deadly crosshairs.

Resolved to find her friend, Kim goes to Arizona to talk to Shareen’s devoted husband, Albert. But he is acting oddly, and Kim’s cop radar has her wondering why. She comes away from the visit with more questions than answers – and an even greater urgency to find Shareen.
Upside, Garrett is coming to lend a hand.

Downside, when Garret returns home from Arizona, he’s sidetracked by an insurance claim on several dead pasture horses. The routine farm visit takes a grisly turn and Garrett finds himself neck deep in yet another twisted mystery.
Between Garrett’s case and Kim’s quest, they really need help! The cavalry appears in the form of good friends, an old buddy, and an unusual new associate. Shocking finds, explosive violence, betrayals, feuds, and revelations – so many things both Lost and Found.

Business as usual for Kovak and Quaid.

Okay, here goes. I am again giving this five stars as an entertaining read, along with its series mates. However, some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and comments are in order here, as there are a few negatives in these stories which for me reduced the credibility of the entire series. I'm including all 5 books in this, as the need for a competent and focused editor is obvious throughout. There are some obvious typos, and several places where a proper timeline [or eve a storyboard, as they do with film screenplays] would have made the story line stronger, and more believable. The characters and their relationships are developing nicely as the fifth book progresses. BUT: In one book there are hints of racist actions that are not dealt with, or could have been elaborated upon; and a few of those characters were appealing enough to have been brought forward in the story. There are too many loose ends and questions not answered. There are three things that bugged me here: Horses do not chuckle, they nicker. And by the end of the fifth book Kovak's lip must have been hamburger, she chewed on it so much. The one major fault I found was the treatment of the character Shareen, an Egyptian woman married to a Dutchman. I checked this out with a friend, a European woman who is married to an Egyptian man. They tell me that an Egyptian woman would not marry a Western man unless she converted to Christianity. Several times the series Shareen uses the common Islamic term "Inshallah" which means "God willing." This indicates that she must be Muslim, though it is never stated or clarified whether she is or is not. Then in another setting, in the Arizona house, she drinks wine with a meal. The is not acceptable by Muslim dietary laws. A careful and thorough check of cultural mores and behaviors would have prevented this misinformation. I sure do feel sorry for all the horses (and cows, as in this last book) that were abused and sometimes killed by the bad guys in this series. And I would buy and read a #6 if I thought the loose ends would be tied up eventually in its ending. Did Grace survive? Do they catch Charles Leon? What about young Ricky... and Trace... Do Jenna and Boomer get together? What about the Ukrainian acrobat lady? Yes, there is fodder for another book or two here... but please remember I introduced this as CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, intended to take something with a good deal of promise and make it a lot better, and stronger.

Lost Found Kovak Quaid horse mystery series edition by Toni Leland Romance eBooks Reviews

The current story was good but the continuing story line was very disappointing. I don't like it when the bad guys win. Not a satisfying ending in my opinion.
Great read, fast paced. I really enjoy this author and series
Another wonderful book in this series. I love the growth of the characters and the story makes me want to not put it down.
I really like this series. Kid of bizarre twist but I like the main characters. It would be kind of hard to read without the others.
I loved the final book of the series. The way it ended leaves it open in case the author would like to add another book. I don't know when I enjoyed a series so much, it kept you going the whole time that you couldn't wait till the next book came out. Thank you Toni Leland for the wonderful series.
I purchased this book on as soon as it was released, and read it in record time. Now the wait is on again for another book in the series, hopefully. Some very sad elements to the story, but tempered with happy things happening, also. I'm so glad l found this series... it's very addicting....in a very good way. Quaid & Kovak will become good friends to anyone who loves animals, and a good mystery.
This fifth entry in the Kovak & Quaid mystery series does a nice job of developing the relationship between the main characters. Picking up where book four left off, the reader is back in the intrigue of the missing Arabian horses. Quaide also has a new and troubling insurance claim to investigate. Knowledge of the previous books is necessary to best enjoy this entry. I personally would like to see one of the enduring plot lines resolved as I feel that focusing on insurance investigations would provide enough intrigue. I hope to find new characters Boomer and Morgan in future books.
